#PinkFloyd's #TheWall was certified platinum 35 years ago — it has since sold over 23 million copies. "The album's themes of disenfranchisement with society along with 'interpersonal pessimism and cultural despair' were born out of a mid-concert freak out bassist #RogerWaters experienced in 1977 when he spit on a concertgoer. 'I'd known for a while during that tour that there was something very wrong. I didn't feel in contact with the audience. They were no longer people; they had become a beast. I felt this this enormous barrier between them and what I was trying to do. And it had become almost impossible to clamber over.'" From the September 16th, 1982 issue of @Rolling Stone.
