For several years, Tim Hetherington worked at the Milton Margai School for the Blind in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he was fondly known as "Uncle Tim." He, of course, made pictures at the school, but was also dedicated to improving the educational programs of students, even establishing a charity to benefit the school, which he continued to support until his death on April 20, 2011.
