From an assignment for National Geographic, the USS Hawkbill surfaces thru the ice in the Arctic in its support role for a scientific program. Mapping of the Arctic sea floor was a critical part of this mission, the Hawkbill was decommissioned a short time after. I'll be speaking at two upcoming National Geographic half-day seminars: Philadelphia this coming Sunday, April 19 and in St Louis, Sunday, April 26.
