The weather in South Georgia is so incredibly variable that you can never fully predict what will happen next. In this photo you can see a beautiful reflection in the water and gorgeous light on the penguins and mountains. This shot was made possible by the lack of wind and rather calm weather. Not 15 minutes after I took this shot, some of the strongest winds I've ever experienced (katabatic) started blowing and it turned into an emergency evacuation situation. We all scrambled, trying to stay upright against the fierce winds, back to the zodiacs to get back to the safety of the ship. Crazy place...but always an adventure in the truest sense.
