Joseph, 17, was recently expelled from a Christian boarding school in Louisiana. He spoke to the photographer Alec Soth, or @littlebrownmushroom, on a train outside of Fort Worth while on his way to Austin with his mother. "I'm making a journal of my trip and am often collaborating with the people I meet," said @littlebrownmushroom, who is traveling to Los Angeles on an assignment for The New York Times Magazine. “In my journal he transcribed a poem about his high school experience entitled, ‘PTSD.’” Find more photos from @littlebrownmushroom’s travels here and on his account.
