On Sunday mornings, Dionisio A. Lind heads for the upper reaches of Riverside Church in Morningside Heights. His job puts him closer to God than the ministers, the choir and the congregation. From inside the church's tower, he plays the carillon, an instrument with 74 bells. Michael Appleton photographed him on a cold day in January. It was “this little world that I didn’t even know existed,” Michael said. "And all the sudden I’m climbing up into this tower.”
