2. Explore the #UNESCO World Heritage site of Skellig Michael. The #Skellig islands are located 12km off the west coast of Ireland, which means to access them, you’ll need a boat. Trips to these islands can be arranged out of the quaint fishing village of #Portmagee. *Insider tip 1: It’s best to call ahead and reserve your spot days, if not weeks in advance. Access is limited and boats fill up fast! For you nature lovers out there, a trip out to Skellig Michael includes a pass by Little Skellig, where you’ll get an up close view of one of the largest Northern Gannet colonies in the world, (approximately 50,000). Once you’ve arrived on Skellig Michael, a hike to the top of this craggy island, will reveal the remains of a 7th century monastic settlement. *Insider tip 2: If you plan your trip in the springtime, you’ll also have a chance to spot puffins on this hike.
