"I was excited when I was told that I would have the opportunity to photograph #LaurynHill perform during her current tour in small venues. It was a very intimate show, at the Blue Note jazz club in Greenwich Village, and despite her arriving around 9:30 for an 8:00 show, her fans were overjoyed when she hit the stage. The only restriction management gave me was I could shoot from anywhere but I couldn’t block anyone’s view of the performance. The club was extremely packed, and I ended up finding a spot kneeling down in the walkway next to one of the front tables. Somewhere between dodging waitresses with trays full of drinks and trying not to obstruct anyone’s view, I was able to grab this photo." As told to @Rolling Stone by photographer @AnthonyCruzPhoto​​
