Happy birthday to the wonderful, brilliant, kind, and generous Carol Heiss. She is, and has been, a huge role model and inspiration for me. When I was first entering elite-level competition, I looked up to her since she is from New York and a National Jr Champion who went on to win Olympic Gold in the 1960 Games. Today, I admire her for those same exact things, but value our friendship even more because of how she continuously handles herself with grace, respect, and humility in all aspects of life. I love you Carol. Thank you for taking me under your wing, for lending an ear, and for always being a guiding star. ?✨ You are a true champion in all senses of the word.
