We shared love of figure skating, New York (he’s from Staten Island), and sharing the stories of athletes. One time I was emceeing an event. It was 2011, and I was not off to a good start. Nervous and you could tell. Gave a few opening sentences & introduced the first person. Stepped offstage. Scrolled Twitter & the first thing I saw was a tweet from him saying that I was killing it. We both know that wasn’t true but he insisted - and years after maintained that - I was doing GREAT!! 😂 It the support I needed at the right moment. I relaxed & rest of the night went well.
