Today we’re celebrating the birthday of our editor and publisher Jann S. Wenner. In this photo by #AnnieLeibovitz from 1976, Wenner and Hunter S. Thompson pose at a Rolling Stone party held for Jimmy Carter’s campaign staff in New York. “Rolling Stone is not just about music, but also about the things and attitudes that the music embraces,” Wenner wrote in his first-ever “Letter From the Editor” in the November 9th, 1967 issue of the magazine. “To describe it any further would be difficult without sounding like bullshit, and bullshit is like gathering moss."
