The Sudanese civil war had taken Ben's parents then a poisonous snake had stolen his right arm. The young man’s composure and bravery in the face of those losses amazed me. One thing my travels I Africa have taught me is that compassion, love and perseverance can overcome most of lifes hardships. And that people are poerfully resilient. I’ve just returned from another wonderful trip to Africa and its made me want to revisit some of my earliest work on the continent covering the aftermath of the Sudanese civil war and the LRA conflict. I’ll be posting here throughout the coming month.
