This #PurpleBlobOfTheWeek is courtesy of a strengthening low pressure system in the NE Atlantic. With a central pressure of 968mb, the storm has dropped an impressive 24millibars over the past 24hrs. The strengthening low pressure system is working in tandem with a broad area of high pressure over the central Atlantic setting up a wide area of NW/NNW winds that are well directed towards portions of Europe and NW Africa. The strongest winds associated with this system are in excess of hurricane-force (65kt+) as confirmed by recent satellite observations.
Swell from the storm will move in midweek with many locations looking to peak on Thursday before the surf drops late in the week. In this case, it looks like conditions will be favorable for many breaks in Europe due to strong, blocking high pressure which will keep much of the unfavorable winds/weather over the NE Atlantic. While this won’t be a long-lived swell event, there should be areas of good surf as the swell peaks. This week's #PurpleBlobOfTheWeek has been provided by @kkortesurfline #SurflineForecast
