Fifteen years ago our lives were upended by the loss of Jenni's husband (and my best friend) Alex Lowe to an avalanche on Shishapangma, an ice clad peak in Tibet. We grieved together and Jenni helped me navigate the storm I was experiencing when Alex was killed a few steps away. Through this all we found love. In the spring of 2001 we tied the knot of matrimony. Her trust in me was exceptional and to this day is the bravest action I have ever witnessed. To embrace the climbing partner of a spouse killed by the mountains was bold and courageous. Together we raised (and will continue to raise) three boys, guiding them with love and compassion. Her vision to make life better for those connected to us led to the inception of the @khumbuclimbingcenter in Phortse, Nepal. She has been my rock of support as I embarked on expeditions to Alaska, Antarctica and the Himalaya, accepting that this is who I am. She has been part of my work @ザ・ノースフェイス, contributing in ways unseen. I love her whimsical, playful and unique art - animals imbued with human spirit telling us something we might not see. The joy of domestic life, a place to call home and a family to live for are, above all, the most cherished gifts this wonderful woman has given me. Life isn't easy and having a loved one to be at your side smooths out the edges and helps us believe in our potential. Thank you dear for being who you are and having me be part of your life.
