I would never had known the first Sunday in September is Grandparents Day if not for these quirky little devices we are looking at.
This image is of Marge and Joe Anker, my father's parents. Marge was born in Big Oak Flat, CA in 1903. Joe was born the same year in Ukiah, CA. In the twenties Joe worked as a line man for the Hetch Hetchy water project. He met Marge at the family restaurant and in 1928 Wallace, my father, was born.
They ran #prieststation, where my mother, sister and brother @stevenanker still keep the tradition alive. They retired to Sonora, the county seat for Toulumne. An ideal day was to drive HWY 120 over Tioga Pass, have lunch in Bridgeport and return on HWY 108.
The tie and pen were Joe's style. Marge got #gussiedup &. enjoyed every trip together. Her favorite saying was "How lucky we are." ? Thanks for leading the way. Family time is the best time.
