Croagh Patrick, which overlooks Clew Bay in County Mayo, is considered the holiest mountain in Ireland. Each year, millions make the pilgrimage up the steep, rocky slopes in honour of Saint Patrick, Ireland's patron saint. It is said that Saint Patrick fasted for forty days on the summit of the mountain in 441 AD. In addition to the spectacular views, we experienced the four seasons of Ireland all in one hike with repeated cycles of wind and freezing rain followed by sunny skies (and a few rainbows thrown in for good measure).
