It's the most surreal to receive a phone call in the morning, letting you know that this person you know, you love...is gone. That while you were sleeping soundly, she was dying, quickly and unexpectedly. I'm feeling so strange and sad. Guilt for letting the relationship slip away since my divorce, when it shouldn't have. Thankful for Ellen, who brought me flowers she knew I'd find beautiful and is building me a fire because my shaking hands couldn't get it to light...and for Adelaide, who has curled in my arms more than once today, with her hands cradling my face.
