Looking at photos from last night's show in Long Island. This is my friend Lanie. I have known her for most of her life, and before she left for college, we used to skate together. To see the wonderful young lady she has become, and how helpful she was to all the young skaters last night, made me feel so incredibly proud. That is exactly what I hope the skating community fosters: friendship, mentorship, kindness, support, and camaraderie. It starts at home and with each of us. Let's continue to set a good example for each other and for the next generation. Every time I see this photo, that's what I'm going to be reminded to do! ?
