Starting a garden in 5-gallon buckets is easy and also guarantees that you know what’s in the soil. We mixed our home-grown compost with some organic soil and it was the perfect mix for our leafy greens. Just make sure to drill holes in the bottom of the bucket– so the soil can drain.
