Photo by @Tim Laman on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック in Borneo. On our very first day in the forest at the Tuanan Orangutan Research Project, we encountered this rugged adult male Bornean Orangutan. His scarred upper lip and damaged right cheek flange show the rough life of adult male orangutans, who have to fight for territory or mates with other males. It’s a tough life in the jungle, but this guy seems to have the attitude to deal with it. #Indonesia, #Kalimantan, #orangutan, @Tim Laman, @thephotosociety.
