When it comes to mitigating climate change, our nation should be a role model to the rest of the world. Only by example can we help to convince other polluting nations such as India & China to take their own measures. Hats off to President Obama for his vision to reduce carbon pollution by 30% from 2005 levels in the next 15 years. Wisely, the administration is no longer talking about distant melting icecaps and vanishing polar bears, but keeping the message close to home, highlighting children with asthma caused by breathing bad air, ever-increasing droughts, killer storms, crop failures and other obvious symptoms that affect heartland Americans. Nevertheless, my own enthusiasm also still heads straight north to the #ArcticOcean, where #Inuit friends like Jayko Apak already face thinner and thinner #ice and fewer animals in the places they still hunt seals and and other marine life to survive. So much that I have loved and photographed is at stake. #ActOnClimate #climatechange #hunting #subsistence #survival #polar #Arctic #eskimo
