Meet the great egret. These long-legged birds nest in trees and eat primarily fish, amphibians, reptiles, mice, and other small animals. They catch prey by walking slowly or standing still for long periods, waiting for an animal to come within range of their long necks and blade-like bills.
This species can be found on many refuges in the @USFWS National Wildlife Refuge System. Check out our refuge map to find a wildlife viewing area near you:http://1.usa.gov/SerSkz.
