One-third of all known amphibian species are in danger of being wiped out by chytrid fungus—including the Panamanian golden frog. Don’t let their name fool you; these “frogs” are actually toads (from the family Bufonidae)! The Smithsonian's National Zoo has bred golden frogs in hopes of ensuring their survival. Our research is helping us understand the immune response of Panamanian amphibians, and we hope to use that information to help save them. ‪#‎WeSaveSpecies
