I was chosen to do the part of young Marie or "Clara" in Tulsa Ballet's Nutcracker when I was 12. I was so nervous to be performing such a big role on stage with the company for the first time. I invited all my friends and family to come watch me in the sold-out performance. I took two steps onto the stage for the crossover at the very beginning of the ballet and tripped and fell flat on my face! I was the only one on the stage and it was the very beginning of the ballet! I was so embarrassed at the time but I can look back and laugh about it now. I learned how to get up and keep going despite what may happen on stage. That's one of the most important lessons to learn as a dancer. Dancers are graceful most of the time, but I know I've had my fair share of clumsy moments! Thank you all for voting for me! Xoxo, Madison
