"Her name is Mizune, originally from Syria and has been in Zaatari refugee camp for about a year now. She lives in a small caravan with her dad, mother and sister. One of the biggest challenges in Zaatari has been getting children to get back to class. Mizune helps UNICEF get them interested in education by going to tents, clinics and even mosques looking to talk to them about the importance of education. She is now known as 'Malala' of Zaatari.

Currently 19,000 children are enrolled in school in the camp but that’s only about 75%. There are still 5,000-6,000 children who aren’t sent to class. Many refugees believe that whatever courses kids complete in camp will not be useful when they return, but that is untrue. If a kid completed 3rd and 4th grade in camp, they will go to 5th upon returning to Syria.

Mizune is 12 years old and wants to be a Journalist, saying it has been hard but that all sacrifice has its rewards. She says that when you’re young there’s nothing more important than education and young people need to study to make Syria a better country." - CNN's Abel Alvarado (@abelalvaradof) 4/4
