For a long time, I have held this mirror facing outward to the world. Absorbing and molding myself according to what was being reflected back to me. But now, I have turned this mirror around to face my own self. Slowly, I am truly seeing myself for the first time. This realization inspired my poem “The Beauty Of Emptiness” (page 25 in my poetry book) - and it is one that I frequently refer back to when I feel unsure or lost. It reminds me to continue to look within, to continue to shed what no longer serves me in order to find clarity. Because no matter how much you want the world around you to change, it first begins in your own heart. 🫀
