Found in the rainforests of Central America, the horned marsupial frog is named for the hornlike triangular skin flaps above its golden eyes. While this feature is striking, it's what you can’t see head-on that makes this species truly remarkable. Females come equipped with a pouch on their back where eggs develop. Rather than depositing eggs in water so they can develop into tadpoles, development happens inside the mother’s pouch and fully formed froglets emerge from her back!
