Photos by @francescolastrucci | Active since the seventh century A.D., the stunning, vast, and intricate site of Hampi, in the Indian state of Karnataka, is a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its astonishing temples and ruins. But the landscape itself is just as eye-catching, defined as it is by massive granite boulders. Shaped by the elements and surrounding the banks of the vital Tungabhadra River, they were once used to build the ancient city and are now a place for macaques and langurs to socialize at twilight.
