This is my second time here and something that struck me this time was how over and over again those inside from the incarcerated to the officials talked about the impact of visitors. They spoke of that making the biggest difference in their life there, in knowing that their life matters, in having hope for the here and now and hope for the future, a reason to live and the opportunity to change their life for the better. I kept thinking of this verse in Matthew 25 “I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’” It was a reminder to me of what just being there with someone can do, and even further a reminder that God’s word is not just a helpful guide, but is true to how He set up the world, of how we can make the world a better place and bring God’s Kingdom to earth as it is in heaven when we live by it. So thankful for my time there yesterday and so inspired by the redemption and grace in that place. We are all in need of it, nobody is too far gone from it, and through the mercy and kindness of God people can and do become made new!
