The sixbar wrasse is one clever fish. In an aquarium setting where this species was offered food pellets too hard to chew and too large to swallow, individual fish were observed using a rock as an anvil, breaking each pellet into bite-sized pieces. This wasn’t just done once, but occurred on multiple occasions, indicating that sixbar wrasse have the ability to remember how to solve a particular problem. Photo taken @batusecretzoo.official.
