Fennec foxes are the smallest of all fox species in the world, but you wouldn’t guess that from looking at their ears which measure up to six inches in length! Those big ears aren’t just for show - they actually help to radiate body heat and keep the foxes cool as they navigate their desert habitat in North Africa. They also have long, thick hair that keeps them warm on cold nights while protecting them from the blazing sun during the day. Even their feet are covered in thick hair which protects them from getting burned when walking on hot sand. Photo taken @stlzoo.
