I’ve found the most exhilarating and joyous way to wake up 🦭

Visit Jurien bay and jump into the turquoise ocean and swim with the cutest sea puppies with @jurienbayoceanic 🌊

You couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces or extinguish the joy in our hearts after this absolutely phenomenal experience interacting with sea lions 🦭

We learnt so much on our tour about these wonderful animals. They are very social and most active in the morning, they can hear 4 x louder than humans, they are super fast swimmers reaching a top speed of 48kmh but they usually cruise at 17-20, they can travel as far as Geraldton from Jurien bay (approx 200km) and they are positive thigmotactic animals - they move into touch, love to roll around, nuzzle and rest on one another 🥰 similar to puppies 🐶

Sea lions are unfortunately an endangered species so it’s super important to choose a small group, eco friendly tour like @jurienbayoceanic if you plan to swim with them. It’s important to follow all rules respecting their space so you don’t interfere with their natural behaviors.
The climate crisis, plastic pollution (fishing nets and gear) and boat propellers are some of the driving factors causing damage and decline in sea lion numbers. The damage from boat props is heartbreaking to witness and why jet propulsion boats like @jurienbayoceanic are a safer option for marine life.
