A favorite of Abel’s (@theweeknd) and now of ours, Serge Attukwei Clottey is a multi-medium Ghanaian artist who works with found material. His art (self-described as “Afrogallonism”) is well-known for its golden hues coming from his use of yellow Kufuor gallon containers (used in Africa to collect water or fuel). Clottey’s installations, sculptures, and performance art has been featured in museums, institutes, and festivals all over the world.  Clottey’s artwork throughout the Samra Origins line merges his personal style with Ethiopia’s people and culture. For each coffee release, he chose a color from the Ethiopian flag and illuminated his portraits with the bright, monochromatic palette. In the end, each piece comes together as a representation of the flag, creating something larger than the individual coffees.
