This sticker, “Young, Gifted, Black and Disabled,” was created in 2020 by Jen White-Johnson, a Neurodivergent artist, designer, and educator. Inspired to increase visibility of people like her Black Autistic son in digital media, she creates designs that celebrate, uplift, and support advocacy, as well as spark conversation.

A generation of children have grown up with the legal protections of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed into law by President George H. W. Bush 33 years ago today. The ADA is a civil rights law that prevents discrimination against Americans with disabilities and guarantees equal opportunity in many aspects of life. With 61 million adults reporting they live with a disability in the U.S., many people, communities, and organizations are advocating for additional protections, education, acceptance, and inclusion. July is #DisabilityPrideMonth.
