Hi it’s Jeanetta again of @nettdesigns and I am here to share with you how I taught my watercolor workshop at my art retreat in France using the Koi Water Color kit. If you saw my previous post, you know that I prepped some examples for this lesson. I taught them watercolor basics starting off with making gradient washes and then making curves and lines of different widths and waviness. I wanted them to get used to moving the paint in different ways and see how the paint reacts to the amount of water they use. Then they could take the methods and create circles, other shapes and words.

A good watercolor wash is made by using a wet brush dipped into watercolor and moving it around your paper. Adding more water can enable the paint to bleed and spread out into a larger area. It can be used for creating backgrounds, making a sky, filling in shapes and so much more. Dab other colors into the wet areas using your brush, creating a wet-on-wet technique that gives it a lot of texture and blends the colors in such gorgeous ways.
