Approximately 150,000 Sherpas make up this ethnic group that lives in the high mountains of the Himalaya and they're accustomed to the low levels of oxygen. Their help and knowledge enable hundreds of climbers to summit the highest mountain in the world every year. These photos are from a story I did years ago, documenting the "ice doctors" on the Khumbu Icefall.
