It is an important part of the cultural life of the city, a harbinger of spring and a rare chance for the public to catch a glimpse of the secretive life of the geisha. With their lavish costumes, ornate hairstyles and elaborate makeup, the Geisha sing and act out mini-dramas in highly stylized and tightly choreographed dance moves demanding perfect performances.
