A large bronze whaler shark rushes mouth agape through a baitball of sardines. It almost looks like the shark is inhaling the fish like a industrial strength vacuum cleaner. Photographing a baitball at close range is both a exhilarating and unnerving experience. I know I am NOT on the menu, but am treated just like any other shark attending this sardine banquet. I am head-butted, tail slapped and body slammed a dozens times. To make good images during such chaos one has simply get on with the task at hand and trust the sharks not to make a mistake.
