The movie follows the developing relationship between Lily’s 17-year-old character with a man in his 30s, played by @JonathanMTucker, who promises her an alternative to her own unsatisfying adolescent life– as their time together progresses, Lily’s character finds herself wrapped up in a less-than-ideal circumstance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On preparing for the character, McInerny tapped into her younger self: “I used a lot of my own playlists and music tastes from when I was 17 to build my character. And I use a lot of the 2014, 2015 Tumblr aesthetic as a personal kind of reference.
