Did you know that 30-40% of food in the US is WASTED each year?

Ik, got me like this emoji fr: 🤯

Good news, though. There several ways to make your foods last longer before they head to the trash. From tossing extra veggies into a sauce to freezing berries for smoothie season, the possibilities are seriously endless when it comes to reducing food waste ✨

Personally, one of my favorite ways to make our fruits last longer is by dehydrating them. Ever tried this before? @plantyou’s recipe turned our brown + mushy berries into clean + healthy “fruit roll-ups” the whole family can’t get enough of. 🍓

Had to share it so you can get in on this goodness!! See the full recipe below!🫐👇🏼

Ingredients:

▪️3 cups of berries
▪️1 tbsp of chia seeds
▪️2 tbsp of maple syrup (optional)

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 175F and line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat. Parchment paper can also work, but it must lie completely flat on your baking sheet.

2. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and combine until smooth.

3. Pour onto the baking sheet, and using a flat spatula, spread out into a rectangle shape. Ensure the edges are thicker than the center, as they will dry quicker.

4. Place in the oven for 2 1/2 hours. Check, and spin the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 2 hours before checking again. The time will vary depending on the water content of the fruit. The fruit leather is ready when it effortlessly lifts off of the silicone sheet or parchment paper. If it is dry around the edges you can rehydrate it with a wet cloth.

Happy cooking! xx, D. 👩🏻‍🍳
