He looked outside the window, watching a cloud float over a mountain, and he knew the dream was over, the reality had begun, as the wind turned over the pages of a book he was reading earlier in the day.

He knew of all the years he spent sitting at the desk, watching pictures after pictures of mountains far away, and wondering how it’d be like to be in them, to walk on those trails, to sit by the streams.

And now that he was in them, he knew it was way more beautiful.

He picked up his bags, leaving the book behind, and moved out of the homestay to catch the evening bus to anywhere it’d take him, for there wasn’t a desk anymore, or deadlines, just some savings in his account and all the time till they run dry.

He didn’t have a clue about how it was going to pan out, for the only thing he had planned a week earlier was when to finally leave. And as he left, looking outside the window of the bus, he saw the bright citylights fading away into comforting darkness of the night, which eventually transitioned into a sunrise, as the bus moved on winding roads up the mountains, next morning.

And he was glad for not having to think anymore, to just go wherever he wanted. And to just be out there, in the mountains, straight from his laptop’s wallpaper.

And now that he was here, he knew that he’d have to flow, like the stream he dreamt about, leaping off the rocks, dancing in the valleys, kissing the faraway villages, having long conversations with lost travellers, and just flowing at the speed of himself.

And so, with the bag on his shoulder, and a bus ticket in his wallet, he chose his seat once again, by the window, so he could stare at the world like he always wanted, in silence, with the strangers from mountains sitting beside him.

He was about to float, like a cloud over the Himalayas.

He was about to flow, like a clear stream, learning the secrets of those Himalayas.

He was a lost soul, on the way to rediscover himself.
