Over the last 30 years, I’ve driven past the Twitchell Reservoir countless times and I can safely say I’ve never seen it so lush and green.
Constructed in the late 1950s to provide flood protection for the Santa Maria Valley, it held little to no water because of California’s ongoing drought. But after significant rainfall this year, the reservoir is almost unrecognizable & home to a bald eagle - the body of water presenting a dramatic change in hunting grounds for the bird of prey.
