46 years ago @wilderness_aus stopped the damming of the wild, beautiful Franklin River. People came together from all over Australia, an example of community power in action and the birth of @wilderness_aus

Their work hasn’t stopped since, with many more wins to protect iconic places across Australia.

In the past few years alone @wilderness_aus has led efforts to successfully protect the Great Australian Bight from risky oil drilling, Lake Malbena from inappropriate development and the Wollemi National Park from coal exploration, they also led the campaign for Australia’s newest and largest national park, the Munga-Thirri / Simpson Desert. Their success list inspires me.

Australia’s biodiversity is incredibly unique, yet as a nation we are ** 2nd in the world ** for biodiversity loss. Thank you @wilderness_aus and to everyone who gives nature a voice to end the mindless expansion of destructive industries.
