I shared my experience working with a director and how his main ‘direction’ was “be more f**king sexy.”Which was yelled repeatedly through a megaphone in front of over a hundred crew members through the course of my three months on set. I actually didn’t mean to spite him by sharing this. I had done my best to deliver this action for the character - after after some humiliation and struggle. But I cultivated the willingness to meet the needs of the moment and work well with him. I reframed the experience enough to appreciate his forthrightness. The experience makes me laugh now - the tensions and extremes I’ve experienced through acting have taught me so much. I’m a very sensitive person and in this I’ve had to learn to assert my boundaries, prioritise my needs, rise above judgement, rise above wanting to shrink, soften and forgive, trust my instincts and be true to myself / others. I shot this portrait / interview with the very respectful @patrickdemarchelier in a high in NYC with beautiful Zoe Kravitz, Lily Collins, Selena Gomez, Amber Heard and Emma Watson. @patrickdemarchelier was a true gentleman and artist. He was so heartfelt and quiet, delicately offering suggestions for artistic shapes with his beautiful French accent. Emma Watson and I went to the movies in Soho that night, I still think she’s one of the sweetest and most humble actresses I’ve met. Impressions are important, how we engage others is important.
