This was probably one of the better new routes we put up in Mongolia. We had to check out and clean a lot of the routes from the top but this one we could see from the ground that it would go. It’s a lot steeper than it looks (honest!) and @madeleine_cope and I aren’t the most skilled offwidth climbers, the Monster offwidth on El Cap being one of the few wide cracks we’ve done. But I managed to pull some tricks out my sleeve for the o/s FA 🧙‍♂️ Offwidths are cracks that are too big to jam with your hands and too small to get your whole body in and they make for quite interesting and brutal climbing. I wonder if we’ll ever see an offwidth in the Olympics?!
