I’ve been pondering the concept of self-worth a lot recently. What is it and where do we get it from? What are good sources of self worth and what aren’t? How best to separate externals in our lives like climbing goals or social validation from our sense of self-worth? I find that too much of my self-worth is attached to general productivity and ‘bettering’. This makes me feel bad about myself if I don’t do anything useful with the day. Reminding myself that there is no ‘there’ to get to and it’s OK to be right where I am helps a lot. Obviously a work in progress, but a worthwhile endeavour.
