Going down memory lane way back to 1993 when I was a 12 year old competing at the National Championships at the senior level. Looking at this video gives me the chuckles because of how rebellious and gutsy I was at such a young age. Not a lot of people knew at the time (including my coach, Frank Carroll), but I had secretly taken the senior level test at the beginning of the season and passed! My motivation was that I wanted to compete against the BIG girls and get a year experience before the Olympic Games in '94. Luckily, my coach accepted my apology for going against his wishes to stay at the junior level and didn't give up on me. Instead, he told me that I had to work 1,000% harder if I wanted to succeed. Here I am living a kids dream competing with the best female skaters in America - wearing the coolest hand-me-down dress that another skater gave me and a used pair of skates that my parents sacrificed so much for 🙏🏼 #thankfulthursdays❤️
