I spent many lunch times as a bike messenger hanging out at his historic @citylightsbooks at Columbus near Broadway and he was often there sharing recommendations. I remember one particular conversation when we discussed the links between punk rock, rap, hippies and the beat poetry generation. I wanna thank Father Albert Huerta my English 101 professor at @usfca for taking me there for the first time, schooling me on the beat era and inspiring me to fall in love with poetry, language, storytelling and introducing me to Ferlinghetti. I’d read his works and he was the first author I’d met in person. I totally fan-boy’d. Rest in history and thank you for fightin’ for writin’ for a century!!! Hope to see ya on the other side!
