Bali has a massive problem with plastic and through the work of 1000’s of folks like the young people at @byebyeplasticbags , legislation has been passed banning plastic bags on the island we are starting to see an awakening in every community about the importance of ending plastic pollution and recycling the plastic that often finds its way onto the ground, into rivers and eventually the ocean. Through the plastic for rice exchange Bali is cleaning up hundreds of tons of plastic around the island each month.

Ever since we opened our doors 9 years ago @soulshinebali we’ve been finding ways to serve our community and last October we started sponsoring the plastic for rice exchange in our banjar (community). 80% of Bali’s economy is based on tourism and 100’s of thousands of people have lost their jobs during the pandemic and this is one of the ways we’ve found to support the community we are a part of.

We’ve always had a no plastic policy at Soulshine which includes no plastic bottles or bags, reuseable bamboo straws, and giving every guest a reuseable cloth bag upon arrival for their shopping laundry etc.
