In 1925, Rea Irvin, The New Yorker’s inaugural art editor, drew the magazine’s trademark dandy for the cover of the first issue. A year later, to celebrate The New Yorker still being afloat, Irvin and the magazine’s editor decided to republish the cover, establishing an anniversary tradition that endures to this day. This year, for the magazine’s 96th anniversary, @sergiocumbresverdes drew the dandy, Eustace Tilley, masked and with a vaccine dose in hand. See more Tilleys through the decades at the link in our bio.
